2009 Graduation Keynote - Honorable Rebecca White Berch - Part 1

Keynote speech by Honorable Rebecca White Berch - Phoenix College alumna and third woman to be appointed to the Arizona Supreme Court, Salutation by Natalyn Daniels, Valedictory address by Alicia Mullings, and a short firework display at the end of the program to commemorate the students’ success.

Keynote speaker, Vice Chief Justice Berch, attended Phoenix College in 1974 and was inducted into the Phoenix College Alumni ociation Hall of Fame last fall. She began practicing law in 1979 in Phoenix and joined the faculty at arizona state university College of Law in 1986 as Director of the Legal Writing Program, a position she held until 1995. During her years at the law school, Justice Berch co-authored a textbook entitled Introduction to Legal Method and Process. The book is in its fourth edition and is used in law schools throughout the country.

Prior to her appointment to the Supreme Court in 2002, Justice Berch served the State of Arizona in several capacities, including Solicitor General, Special Counsel to the Attorney General, First istant Attorney General, and Court of Appeals Judge.

Vice Chief Justice Berch recently was named the state high courts next chief justice, effective July 1, 2009.
