What is a good study guide for the AEPA (AZ Educator Proficiency Assessment)?

Written by admin on Dec 30th, 2009 | Filed under: arizona department of education

I need to take Arizona’s exam in Secondary Education (English) and of course pass in order to be granted a teacher certification.

I looked over the study guide that Arizona’s Department of Education has to offer online, and very quickly I realized that multiple answers can be the answer; although only one is the true correct answer.

Furthermore, the test is timed, which I hate. It’s broken down into four sections: reading, writing, listening and speaking, viewing and presenting. If you want to take a look here is a link to the practice http://www.aepa.nesinc.com/PDFs/AZ_Field02_StudyGuide.pdf

I’m definitely going to go through the practice and begin reviewing what key terminology I need to know. Do you know any study guides which help in prepping for this exam? I came across this ( http://www.mo-media.com/aepa/ ).

Anyway, all suggestions and tips and advice are much appreciated.

Requested study guides will be found below.

Could I get into these Universities?

I am from Pennsylvania and currently a junior in high school and I have been looking ahead to my future a lot so far. I would like to go to college to major in journalism, history, or athletic training, and then become a sports journalist, high school history teacher, or athletic trainer.

6. St. Cloud State University – St. Cloud, MN – History and Journalism
7. university of arizona – Tucson, AZ – Journalism and History
8. arizona state university – ? – Journalism, History, Athletic Training

My current grades during junior year (this year):

Phys. Ed. 11 = 90
Health 11 = 98
English 11 = 86
Environmental Science (lab) = 89
Global Studies = 102
Algebra II = 93
Crafts = 98 (art class required for graduation)
Journalism II = 100

Junior Year Overall Percentage = 95
Junior Overall GPA = 3.8
High School Class Rank = 165/328 (this was at the end of sophomore year, I think it’s a lot higher now.)

The classes I’ve taken and are going to take are as followed… (These are only my main classes that are each one credit. Journalism is an elective, but I’m planning on majoring in it. It’s still an everyday, all year class.) Oh and my school only has honors classes right now, not AP. In my school you also don’t have to take math or science your senior year, but I am going to.

8th – German I
9th – German II, Comprehensive English 9, U.S. History I, Algebra I, General Biology (lab), Physical Education 9, and Health Education 9.

In 12th grade I’m planning on taking – Comprehensive English 12, Basic Chemistry, Trigonometry, American Society Honors, Journalism III, and Physical Education 12.

The extra-curricular activities I am involved in are SADD Club, Wrestling Team, Wrestling Team Student Athletic Trainer, Baseball Manager, Baseball Student Athletic Trainer, Church Softball Team, and Youth Group. I am also a sports reporter for my high school’s newspaper, The Rocket Star and I have my own sports column called Player of the Month. I used to volunteer at an after school day care for kids 8th grade and down. Helping them with homework, playing games, and giving them snack.

Finally, during my junior (this year) and senior year of high school I have a student internship with WOYK, a sports radio-broadcasting network, for both the football and basketball seasons. I will go to all my school’s home and away game, collect stats, call in stats, and broadcast the game I reviewed on radio.

Admission into University of Miami and PSU is extremely competitive. It really all depends on your SAT scores now. Seems like you have adequate extracurricular activities and your grades are solid, though that’s too bad your school does not offer AP classes. You might be at a disadvantage in terms of the rigor of your coursework compared to other students. Good luck!

What Community College cores should I take to get into Arizona State University Department of Radiology?

Written by admin on Dec 24th, 2009 | Filed under: arizona universities

Okay so I live in Atlant, Georgia, I really want to go to arizona state university for Radiology. Right now I’m saving up money to get me to Arizona and get me started. So I decided I can go to community college and take an eight mouth cores like my sisters doing. What class should I take that will make it easier for me to get into ASU Department of Radiology.

What is your career goal? I don’t see where ASU has a radiology program.

What are my chances of getting into Arizona State University?

Written by admin on Dec 23rd, 2009 | Filed under: arizona state university

I’ve heard the acceptance rate is like 90%, but I’m from Alabama and will have 41 credits by the time I want to transfer there in Fall 2010. I have a 3.6 gpa and a 20 on the ACT. I didn’t know if I had less of a chance since I’m out-of-state, or what. What are my chances?

I can nearly guarantee your acceptance with that phenomenal grade point average. I attended University of Missouri and was able to transfer to ASU with only a 3.0 GPA. Don’t worry about getting in; just be concerned with paying for it. Out of state is expensive. I went the financial aid route. After you have lived in the great state of Arizona for a year, apply for in-state tuition. They will look at things like having in-state employment & proving that you reside in AZ with proof you pay rent here. Good luck!

What do students in the University of Arizona do in the campus? Do they offer honor programs?

Written by admin on Dec 20th, 2009 | Filed under: arizona universities

I have a college research paper to do. It’s my final for this semester and it’s due next Monday. I couldn’t find any resources to write about the campus life(it’s required).

I know U of A is a honor college but I don’t know what to write about.

If you study in the university of arizona, please answer my question. It would be a BIG help.

I am currently at the UofA (graduating in May 2010!), and campus life tries its hardest… Campus life has gone under since the last two concerts racked up enormous debt. I’m sure there’s always something going on…but lately, there has been small events like an art show that supposed to "connect" Tucson to France (really…?). Homecoming wasn’t too long ago, and that event is large-scale lasting about a week long, but it doesn’t really get going until the week end with the tents and the game. I enjoyed it because I got to see a lot of people that I don’t normally see…ergo, the point of homecoming. I usually look to off-campus opportunities. Pitbull is coming tomorrow (Tuesday), and I think I’ll get to that concert. A good source for what’s going on oncampus is the school newspaper: The Wildcat. Maybe you can look that up on the website.

I’m in the Honors College, too. They’re always doing stuff, but I think the best thing about it is that you can register for classes early. They also have supportive meetings/informationals about big-name scholarships. Regarding activity, the Honors College hosts movie nights and plays (where the actors are honors students).

Another big thing is research! The reason I chose this school is the research, and I have noticed that there are a number of opportunities to present research or see other peers present theirs (Undergraduate Biology Research Program Poster Presentation…this January, Graduate and Professional Student Council Poster Presentation (Homecoming)).

I’m sure other people do more…

Does anyone know for certain if this northern arizona university personal advantage application is a scam?

Written by admin on Dec 16th, 2009 | Filed under: northern arizona university

I got an email from Northern Arizona office of admissions about that. It had a real person’s name from the admissions office on the email and it says its from northern arizona university but look at the site. It’s http://www.northernarizonau.org/apply/ it leaves me wondering because how much it leaves out. And I can just get a random person from there and put it on there.

Anyone use this and know if its real.
I registered on their site so that’s how they could get my info. Its definitely within the realm of possibilities that they were contacting me but its not their site. Their site is nau.edu this is northernarizonau.org.

Probably not a scam. The bottom of the page identifies it as the real Northern Arizona University. It would be dangerous for a scam operation to make this claim.

Universities get lists of prospective students from a number of sources. Your name your have been on a list. Universities can separate their recruiting websites from their academic websites.

How easy is it to get into Arizona State University?

Written by admin on Dec 16th, 2009 | Filed under: arizona state university

i screwed up my first 2 years of highschool so now i have a 2.3 gpa but i have a 25 on the act. what are my chances of getting accepted?

I wouldn’t say they’re the best, but there’s always a possibility. About 3% of students who got in had a GPA between 2.0 and 2.49. But if you work harder in your last 2 years of high school, you’ll most likely do just fine. Or you could go to a community college for a couple years, and then apply to ASU. And remember: GPA and the ACT scores are important, but they’re not everything. Schools also try to figure out who you really are, and see how you could help improve/add to their community. And if something happened (death, illness, etc.) during your first 2 years, schools are very understanding of that sort of thing. The same thing sort of happened to me in my first year of high school. I didn’t realize how different high school would be from middle school, and I did really badly. If that’s what you did, don’t worry; a lot of students have that problem. As long as you improve some how in academics, and show the college what you have to offer them, you’ll do great. Good luck!
