Would I be able to get an Arizona driver's license with a California permit?

Written by admin on May 31st, 2009 | Filed under: arizona colleges

Or would I have to go through it all again and get an Arizona permit? I'll be 18 in July and am starting college in Arizona in the fall.

If your state of residence is California, but you are going to college in Arizona, you should be getting a California drivers license.

You have to have "established residency" in arizona to get either an arizona permit or license. i.e. this would be the place you would have been living for several months prior to when you get your license.

A nice speech by Mohave County Sheriff on equal enforcement under the law, though in 2000, 8 years prior, the same county refused to be involved in teen obductions by the FLDS. News 3 TV filmed several attempted but failed rescues because of the prior blind eye of local authorities.

Arizona State University: No Honorary Degree for Barack Obama — 4.10.09

Written by admin on May 30th, 2009 | Filed under: arizona state university

(4.10.09) — arizona state university made the decision (apparently now under reconsideration) to not award Barack Obama with an honorary degree from the school when the president comes to speak at commencement.

Arizona State’s decision is in contrast with another institution at which Obama will be giving a graduation address, Notre Dame.

Notre Dame, on the other hand, is awash in controversy over its choice to permit Obama to speak at the Catholic school at all.

Obama is often referred to as one of abortion’s most ardent supporters in government, and his near-flawless record in support of the procedure has drawn outrage from many students, faculty and supporters of the Indiana university who find it offensive that Notre Dame would go against its Catholic underpinnings just so as to have Obama address its graduates.

Special Spectators - Tucson & Philadelphia Coverage

Written by admin on May 30th, 2009 | Filed under: arizona special education

Special Spectators, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, creates magical days for seriously ill children and their parents at collegiate sporting events across the United
States.

Since 2002, we’ve provided the quintessential Saturday experience complete with tailgate parties, mascots, cheerleaders and marching bands for approximately 3,800 children and parents. Over the last five years, we’ve hosted about 110 game day events that provide these kids with special access to people and areas of the stadium that are not accessible to most fans. Our youngsters tour locker rooms, meet coaches and walk on the field during a time out.

The field visit is a powerful moment. While the kids stand on the field, a stadium announcement tells fans why the kids are attending the game, explains Special Spectators and asks the crowd to give the children a warm welcome to the stadium. Typically this results in a standing ovation.

Special Spectators also coordinates student-athlete visits to children’s hospitals. What we see during these visits is that a mutual admiration society is created. Clearly, these children view the athletes as heroes and the reverse is true as well. The athletes see what the children experience and more importantly, they are able to see the impact that they, as individuals, have on the children. This plants the seed of the gift of giving in the heart of the student athlete and, we believe, creates a commitment to service that extends into the future.

The idea for Special Spectators was originally formed out of participation in Landmark Education’s Self Expression and Leadership Program (SELP).
